This course is designed to train you for the jobs of the future; you'll be taught the fundamentals of business management in the wider context of the contemporary business landscape, ensuring your skills will remain flexible and adaptable as the world changes.
The course combines practical professional experience with creative approaches to enterprise and innovation that will develop your entrepreneurial spirit. We incorporate as much hands-on experience and professional training as possible; you'll visit businesses across London, learn from guest speakers, and study work-based projects, with opportunities to take up internships and spend a year in work.
Throughout this three-year course, you'll be introduced to a variety of topics that are fundamental to the running of any business. You'll also gain a crucial understanding of the wider context that businesses operate in, whether economic, technological, or social.
The first year lays the foundations of your business knowledge by covering fundamental topics such as marketing, business intelligence, and professional development. At the end of the first year, you'll have developed an understanding of how organizations function through their staff, through data analysis, and through their relationship with the wider, global economy.
The second year builds on this basis by covering specific topics across the management spectrum, including business law, finance, and project management. This is complemented by modules that introduce an ethical framework for business, looking at corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in particular.
In the final year, you'll learn how to apply these core building blocks of business in practical projects – a management report and dissertation - as well as through modules that address wider questions about entrepreneurship and the changing nature of business in the 21st century.
At the end of your degree, you'll not only have a practical understanding of how businesses operate on a day-to-day basis but a deeper awareness of the role that businesses play in society and the professional tools to enter a managerial career or start your own business.
