At Roehampton, you'll study a full spectrum of topics within psychology, learn to think and write like a psychologist and work alongside criminologists to study crime, the criminal justice system and society's response to the impact of criminal behaviour. In this course, you'll develop an understanding of how the brain and nervous system affect and are affected by behaviour, how we perceive information, communicate, learn and think, as well as a critical understanding of how the criminal justice system operates and the relationship between punishments and crime prevention. After you graduate, you'll be ready to succeed in whatever career you choose to pursue. Modules are based on practical applications, allowing you to critically analyze and apply psychological and criminological theories. You'll learn to evaluate evidence, communicate effectively, analyze data, and work within different teams.
You could go on to secure work in the prison and probation services, the police, the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice or the wider criminal justice system. Many of our students choose to study Psychology and Criminal Justice because the transferrable skills they develop are valued by a range of employers. You could work in the charity sector, for mental health services, in an educational setting or in a range of business roles.
