You'll gain practical skills using real-life situations for processing financial transactions, applying accounting concepts to financial statements and reports, preparing budgets and monitoring business performance, financial decision making, application of tax rules to small business and individuals, evaluating and determining financial risk and act in accordance with the accounting profession’s Code of Ethics.
Through the KPMG Junior Accountant Programme, you could apply for a junior accounting role with KPMG and study through Toi Ohomai, starting with the NZ Diploma in Business (Level 5).
Once you complete your New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) (strand in accounting), you can continue study and gain your certification to be a Chartered Accountant by completing the CPA approved Bachelor of Applied Management (strand in accounting).
This course is offered through a combination of on-campus tutorials, online activities and self-directed learning.
Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive the award of:
New Zealand Diploma in Business (Accounting) (Level 5)
50 credits at NCEA Level 2, including a minimum of eight Literacy credits, OR
equivalent educational achievement.
If you do not meet the academic requirements you may be given special admission if Toi Ohomai staff are satisfied you are capable of successfully completing the requirements.
Special admission may also apply for applicants over 20 years.
20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 4 with the Academic Endorsement or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
