This degree may also be useful for those considering teaching, family support work, or working with children with special needs, and for people considering educational psychology (although students considering this career will need to obtain Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society). We welcome all interested applicants with and without formal qualifications as we base decisions on our own assessment of qualifications, knowledge, and previous work experience. However, as a minimum, applicants must have: a good standard of written and spoken English a good standard of basic mathematics basic computer skills an active and ongoing engagement in the education sector working directly with children or young people (as a paid employee or as a volunteer) for a minimum of one day (six hours) a week, for the duration of the degree. a workplace mentor (to support your reflective practice at work) Confirmation of your placement and mentor will only be required when you enroll.
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
