BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing

The BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing course at Bournemouth University is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a qualified mental health nurse. The course covers a wide range of topics, including mental health conditions, pharmacology, psychotherapy, and mental health law. Students will learn how to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with mental health problems, as well as how to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. The course is taught by experienced nursing professionals and includes a combination of theoretical and practical learning. Graduates of the program are eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and pursue a career in mental health nursing.

• Acceptance of the course depends on factors such as the initial field of registration, a nursing degree qualification, and the date of the applicant’s original registration.

• This course will teach you how to deliver high-quality nursing care to enable, educate, and encourage those experiencing mental health problems to progress toward recovery.  

• Practical experience plays a central role in the course, with 50% of the period spent in practice placements to gain nursing experience in various healthcare environments.

• Newly built skills facilities include simulated hospital wards and community home settings, allowing you to learn and practice.

• 2:2 in a Nursing degree

This course requires 112 - 128 UCAS tariff points, including a minimum of two A-levels or equivalent. We are happy to consider a combination of qualifications and grades to meet the overall tariff, for example, A-levels A*CC, ABC, BBB or BCC, BTECs DDM, or DMM.
