Course Overview

The HND in Health Care Practice is a two-year programme that offers a flexible choice of subject areas and progression opportunities. The programme aims to prepare and equip students with knowledge, understanding and skills for a range of careers within the health and social care sector.

The Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) is a highly regarded, nationally and internationally recognised, undergraduate level programme, equivalent to the first and second year of a university degree course. The course is Level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework and has been designed to offer a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical skills development, alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding of health and social care related areas, both in the UK and overseas.

There is now a greater emphasis on employer engagement and work readiness. The new BTEC Higher National qualifications in Health Care Practice are designed to reflect this increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5, thereby providing students with a clear line of sight to employment and to progression to a degree at Level 6.

The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required for the sector, and the national recognition by employers can allow progression into employment.
