Job opportunities for environmental scientists are projected to grow much faster (10.6% per year) than the projected average (7.7% per year) over the next decade. Additionally, two of the top three fastest projected growing occupations are environmentally related, while five of 10 have environmental applications such as data analysis. You'll find many career paths at consulting firms, research groups, and engineering. In addition, students can find work at conservation organizations and large corporations looking for expertise to improve their climate footprint, such as finding sustainable product manufacturing. Environmental Science faculty at EC are always interested in finding new, engaging, and successful post-graduate employment opportunities for students. Environmental Science is increasingly important as today's world grapples with complex environmental challenges. The inextricable link to the natural system means our first step in solving environmental problems should be to understand the processes that govern the environment intimately. In this program, you'll explore and gain an understanding of earth's four spheres and how humans interact with those spheres. You'll learn the concepts that help us understand these systems and techniques to assess environmental health. You'll analyze and display this data spatially using ArcGIS Pro software. Then you'll disseminate this information to your peers and the broader community. After graduation, you can use the knowledge and skills you learned to immediately enter the workforce and begin to shape policy decisions and solve modern environmental problems.
You’ll learn from professors and professionals about the four spheres of the environment: lithosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and atmosphere.
