Course Overview

Our BSc Bioscience with Management will provide you with the fundamental knowledge and applications of modern bioscience at the same time as equipping you with essential management skills. This combination offers you the opportunity to operate at the interface of many scientific and business careers. Learning with internationally recognized researchers, and studying this bioscience with a management degree will provide you with an academic grounding in the science that underpins modern bioscience.

You will develop a sound knowledge of scientific principles across a range of disciplines, including biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, drugs and drug discovery, genetics, immunology, microbiology, and physiology. You will understand their applications, the opportunities for commercial exploitation, and how these can be effectively managed.

Birkbeck’s BSc Bioscience with Management graduates completes the degree with a set of valuable attributes and skills, for example:

analysis, critical evaluation, and synthesis of evidence, concepts, and principles

data analysis and problem-solving

practical laboratory skills

high-level oral and written communication skills in English

General Eligibility

UCAS TARIFF POINTS

112-120 points (e.g. A-levels BBC-BBB including biology, chemistry, and/or mathematics. A-levels in general studies and critical thinking are not accepted. Applicants with only two full A-levels are considered on an individual basis.)

The UCAS tariff score is applicable to you if you have recently studied a qualification that has a UCAS tariff equivalence. UCAS provides a tariff calculator for you to work out what your qualification is worth within the UCAS tariff.

GCSES

GCSEs (or equivalent) are required at grade C or grade 4 or above in English, mathematics, and double science (or two single sciences).

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

• If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
