Course Overview

This Foundation degree is a work-based course which means you work and learn at the same time. You will develop the effective use of knowledge, skills, and core values that are relevant to future work or study in both social care and social work.

The Foundation degree in Social Care Studies is designed to help you develop your understanding of the knowledge, skills, and values that underpin social care practice and leads to an academic award that recognizes your own knowledge and capability in the workplace.

The course focuses specifically on exploring the boundary and interface between social care services and social work services (including social work services delivered by health professionals or care workers who may also have a connection to healthcare in their work).

It is taught by highly qualified professionals including registered social workers that bring a wealth of professional and practical knowledge and experience into the classroom.

General Eligibility

Grade A*-C/9-4 in English language GSCE or level 2 equivalent

level 2 mathematics qualification or recognized equivalent

level 3 qualification i.e. NVQ, BTEC National, one A-level or Access to HE Diploma or equivalent in a relevant subject such as health and social care, or a level 3 qualification in an unrelated subject area alongside significant experience in a relevant health and/or social care work setting.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • IELTS 6.5 or equivalency – with no less than 5.5 in any element.
