This program is designed to enhance the professional knowledge and practice of those involved in mathematics education at various levels. Beginning teachers will build on their initial teacher education to complement the learning from the classroom with research-informed decision-making and lesson design for ages 4-19. Non-mathematics specialists who make the transition to secondary and further education mathematics teaching will be able to develop subject pedagogical expertise through this MA.
Experienced mathematics educators will be able to deepen their knowledge of research-informed practice and develop a focus on particular areas of professional knowledge and practice such as mathematical resilience or education for lower prior attainers. Teacher educators and mathematics subject leaders will develop ways of understanding and articulating practice and collaborating that are informed by models of transformative teacher education and leadership.

Students and graduates of the University of Chester can use our services free of charge for up to two years after graduating.
Participants must have a first degree, 2:2 or higher, and be working in a school or other learning environment. Applicants with other degree classes will be considered through interviews.
