Course Overview

This multidisciplinary course develops your understanding of international tourism while giving you the practical skills you need to take on a management role in the fast-paced, rapidly evolving events sector.

The course combines the key subject areas of business, marketing and tourism with an industry focus on events management. It develops your theoretical understanding of all these areas while encouraging you to put theory into practice working on real-life briefs and case studies.

To start the course, you study the business of events management, tourism and hospitality before moving on to explore areas such as cultural tourism; marketing; and tourism and sustainable development. Specific events management units may include event planning and operations; risk and crisis management for events; events and destination marketing; and event planning in practice.

The University of Bedfordshire is a member of the Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE). ATHE is the subject association for tourism in higher education in the UK. It represents universities that are leading providers of tourism programmes.

We will consider you as an individual and take into account all elements of your application, not just your qualifications. We are looking for breadth and depth in your current studies and enthusiasm for the subject you wish to study.

UCAS Tariff Points

  • At least 80 points with 64 points from 2 A-level passes at C or above

  • At least 80 points with 64 from Merit Merit in two BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas or one BTEC Diploma

  • At least 80 points with Merit Merit Pass in the BTEC Extended Diploma

  • A completed Access to Higher Education Diploma Equivalent qualifications such as Irish Leaving Certificate, OCR Nationals, International Baccalaureate and CACHE Level 3 awards.

    UKVI Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each element
