Course Overview

This higher education course is for students looking to pursue a career in the computing such as computer science, information technology, cyber security and forensic computing and business computer systems.

Technology and computing is fast paced with rapid changes and challenges. There are new jobs and careers formed that never existed five years ago. This course will allow you to develop your computing skills, academic skills as well as communication, transferable and interpersonal skills.

The emphasis is on implementing computing solutions for the modern computing environment, studying a course rooted in the real world that aims to develop work ready graduates. Through developing core competencies and capabilities that are important across the sector and developing relevant expertise and technical skills to be able to perform a job successfully. This course has been designed to meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers have identified through occupational standards to be the most important to work at a higher technical level.

This course will prepare students for employment at a technical level or progress on to further studies at level 6, and top-up to honours degree level.

General Eligibility

You will need to be aged 18 years or over on or before 31 August of the academic year the course commences.

You will need a minimum of 48 UCAS points which may be gained from the following qualifications:

  • Two A Levels

  • A BTEC National Diploma or Extended Diploma

  • A BTEC National Certificate

  • A Level 3 Diploma or equivalent such as NVQ, International Baccalaureate, Scottish Certificate of Education

  • A recognised (Kitemarked) Access course

In addition, you will need GCSE English and maths at Grade 4-9 or Level 2 equivalent.

Alternatively, if you have significant relevant work experience or other professional qualifications, you may be eligible for the course. Contact the College who will be able to advise and discuss your suitability for the course.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
