Health and social care has been a central aspect of all of our lives. This health and social care degree provides you with an opportunity to be at the forefront of that. The delivery of effective health and social care services relies on strong leadership and management. This course will enable you to develop an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills of the leadership and management needed for the efficient and effective delivery of services in the health and social care environment.
We seek to help you develop as a reflective practitioner and gain skills in effective communication, critical analysis, and continuous learning with a clear understanding of the issues and changes taking place both nationally and locally within health and social care. The knowledge, skills, and attributes gained will enhance your ability to effectively engage in the responsibilities required to be an effective team player, team leader, and manager and to be proactive in service evaluation, innovation, and improvement.
Our Health and Social Care Management course is designed to give you the opportunity to:
Foster an informed and critical attitude to policies and interventions used to improve the management of service development and client care within the health and social care sector.
Enhance knowledge of leadership and management skills and how these can be applied within a variety of sectors.
Be familiar with the methods used to collect and interpret data.
Help you become an informed, independent, and reflective practitioner through the development and application of practical research skills.
Improve your ability to think logically, analyse problems, and communicate effectively within the workplace.
Prepare for employment in a wide range of contexts either within or without the field of health and social care or for further study.
Enhance transferable skills that you can take forward into employment including problem-solving, decision-making, digital literacy, and written, verbal, and visual communication.
We accept a wide range of qualifications for entry to our undergraduate programmes with an integrated foundation year:
A minimum of five GCSE passes at grade C/4 or above (including Maths and English) or international equivalent. The qualifications must have been awarded within the last five years. Evidence of ongoing recent study preferred. Or;
If you do not have formal or recent qualifications, you can support your application with evidence of appropriate skills and knowledge acquired through a minimum of three years post-school professional work experience. Accompanying your application, you must write an essay of 500 words setting out the following:
A summary of your work experience
A consideration on how that experience has advanced your skills and knowledge
A summary of how that experience relates to the course of study applied for.
For international students include a maximum allocation of 20 hours per week.
If English is not your first language, we will need to see evidence of your proficiency in the English language.
Generally, we are looking for a score equivalent to IELTS 5.5, with no less than 5.5 in each of the four components of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. We accept a range of qualifications including:
IELTS
TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 64
Pearson PTE with a minimum score of 45
Duolingo with a minimum score of 95
Academic qualifications taught in English can also be accepted, such as GCSE English Language with a minimum grade C/4.
