Course Overview

Mathematic problems occur across a variety of industries, and therefore, a good mathematician is often in demand. In this course, we not only teach mathematical theory but show you how to apply it to solve real-world problems. Whether you see yourself working in the finance sector, in marketing or advertising, or the aerospace industry, we aim to prepare you with the mathematical skills that are needed to work across a range of different organizations. Most mathematical modeling now requires computers, and programming is often considered to be an essential skill for a mathematician, which is why we introduce using different software in the early stages of this course. For example, you may use R when working with statistics and data analytics, Python or MATLAB for working with fluid dynamics, and Deep Learning when building predictive models. Our course has a strong focus on engineering applications, data analytics and artificial intelligence, the integrated masters year adds both breadth and depth to the BSc, and includes options in subjects like robotics and machine learning.
