Course Overview

On our Biomedical Science BSc(Hons) degree course, youll practice the skills relevant to working in a clinical laboratory. The course will explore critical subject areas such as blood science, anatomy, physiology, and pathology, preparing you for a range of careers in healthcare, including diagnostics and clinical research. By delivering a curriculum relevant to society's needs, this degree will also provide opportunities for employment in other areas such as teaching, government agencies, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries. In the early stages of the degree, youll study alongside our other biological science students, building up your knowledge in the core subject areas of medical pharmacology, microbiology, and biochemistry. In the final year, you'll explore some of the latest developments in biomedical science, guided by expert staff with doctoral-level expertise in various subjects. You'll study the prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases such as Alzheimer's, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. You'll also be able to explore the science of drug addiction and mental disorders such as epilepsy. You'll have the chance to use your creativity and technical skills, working as part of a team to solve problems in biology.

General Eligibility

BBC-BCCat A Level, including a grade B in a relevant Science subject. The endorsement for practical work is an essential part of Science A-Level study and a requirement for our degree course entry.

112-104UCAS tariff points from a combination of Level 3 qualifications, including a minimum grade of B in a relevant Science subject at A Level.

Meritat T Level in Science including a grade B in A Level Chemistry or Biology.

DMMin BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science.

Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits at Merit or above to include modules in relevant Science subjects.

112-104 UCAS tariff points from International Baccalaureate qualifications should include modules in a relevant Science subject.

Part Time Work Details

Twenty hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

• The minimum for IELTS is 7.0 overall with no element lower than 6.5 or equivalent.
