This course is designed for those who are committed to sport, health, and exercise and have a passion to make a positive contribution to the health and lifestyle of their local community. Lecturers offer in-depth vocational expertise from the public and private sectors, as well as research interests in strength, conditioning, and exercise, the social and contemporary issues in sport, fitness, health, and exercise, and psychology and dance sciences. The progression year allows holders of appropriate Foundation degrees to achieve a full BSc (Hons) degree. Students continue to apply the themes of developing transferrable skills and academic knowledge whilst demonstrating greater levels of autonomy. The course offers innovative and varied modules including physical performance science; functional movement education; wider determinants of health; sustainable professional practice and a dissertation. It is intended that the skills and knowledge developed on these modules can be applied to a wide range of sectors including the general population and athletes. Students will be encouraged to consider all individuals to be occupational athletes and assess the impact of their occupation on their health.
FdA or FdSc
All applicants are required to hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above. Applicants who do not hold these qualifications may be considered on an individual basis based on their overall application and the course applied for.
20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components) where English is not the students' first language.
