This course has been designed by highly qualified sport scientists with considerable applied experience and knowledge of working in performance sport. Staff retain strong links with a range of sports and are research active, with a focus on informing and enhancing practice. Modules are therefore delivered by experienced staff who are aware of the knowledge and skills required to work in performance sport and ensure that delivery is underpinned by practice-informed and research-informed teaching. Access to a range of sports ensures students are afforded appropriate opportunities throughout the course to engage with coaches, athletes, and other practitioners in order to enhance their learning and gain appropriate experience. Continued development and tracking of fundamental competencies throughout also ensures students are ready to meet the requirements of accrediting bodies on completion of the course. The applied focus of the degree is most useful when it comes to gaining employment. Previous graduates are employed in professional sports clubs and organizations working with high-standard athletes, coaches, and practitioners.
