Course Overview
This joint honors degree combines two highly desirable areas of study. Throughout the course, you will engage with urgent and key issues facing contemporary societies, with a particular focus on matters of social division, social inequality, and identity. You'll be encouraged to pursue original thoughts and ideas, with the seminar room providing opportunities for sustained discussion and debate. You'll have fantastic opportunities to explore education across a wide range of contexts, from primary schools to forest schools, from the UK to Africa, and chances to take up work experience, study abroad at a partner university, and participate in volunteering activities.
A degree in Education Studies and Sociology is a gateway to many careers, especially jobs that involve managing and communicating with people, thinking out solutions to problems, and understanding the diverse society in which we live. Our graduates have an excellent employment record and have taken up a variety of careers, including careers in housing, the probation service, youth work, caring professions, social services, the police, business and personnel management, public relations, media, marketing, and teaching.
