BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Policing

This innovative degree course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to pursue a career in professional policing. The course covers a range of topics including policing theory, criminal justice systems, crime prevention and investigation, and community policing. Students will also gain practical experience through placements with local police forces and other criminal justice agencies. On completion of the course, students will be eligible to apply for entry into the Police Force as a constable.

Additional Information

Students must meet the National Policing Education Qualifications (NPEQ) requirements in order to be eligible for entry into the Police Force. These requirements include passing a series of tests on topics such as criminal law, policing procedures and ethics. The course also provides opportunities for students to gain additional qualifications and certifications, such as the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management or the NPQILM Level 7 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
