The UWS Graduate Apprenticeship BEng (Hons) Engineering Design & Manufacture is mostly delivered through work-based learning. Typically, you will spend one day every 1-2 weeks at UWS. While the work and learning you do in your workplace count towards more than three-quarters of your degree, you will also be a student at the new UWS Paisley campus. All Graduate Apprenticeship (GA) degrees require that applicants are employed in a relevant role in Scotland, and they have the right to live and work in Scotland. The course uses modern blended learning, industry-led projects, and minimal exam-based assessments. It focuses on cultivating professional development skills in project management, inquiry-based research, and problem-based learning. During your time in UWS, you will be supported by a dedicated team of lecturers, you will be assigned a dedicated personal tutor, work mentor, and link tutor who meet regularly with you on campus and in your workplace. You will develop an understanding of the concepts of Manufacturing Engineering Systems and the skills to analyze, design, and implement these systems in practice. You will also gain an understanding of strategic and operational management and learn how to apply technology, quality tools, and specific techniques in order to improve operations.
To apply for a GA you must be resident in Scotland before you start. The premises you work in must also be located in Scotland. As part of your application, you will have to show that you have the right to live and work in Scotland. GAs are open to existing employees and new recruits.
