Course Overview

Welsh is a Celtic language at the cutting edge of modern modes of creativity. This course provides you with a firm grounding in literature and language with the opportunity of studying a combination of theatre, drama and media modules. Foster your creative talents in the company of some of Wales’s leading creative practitioners and follow career paths in the media, theatre sectors but also in education. If you want to complement a traditional academic route with exciting creative experiences in theatre and media, this is a course for you.

If you are planning on working in theatre or the media in the future, this course will equip you with the necessary skills to enter the profession. The course will not only give you a solid grounding in Welsh language and literature, but also give you the opportunity to combine creative, practical and academic elements of theatre, drama and the media. Develop your talent with some of Wales' leading practitioners, who continue to work professionally in the field. This course prepares you for a career in the arts, media and theatre or in education.

As well as giving you a strong grounding in Welsh language and literature there will also be an opportunity during the course to learn about various aspects of theatre and media as areas of the arts. There will be an opportunity to learn about the theoretical and historical aspects of these areas, such as the history of Welsh drama, the history of European drama, the tradition of stage adaptation, the study of Welsh screen works and the tradition of broadcasting for radio as a medium. There is also a wide cross-section of modules that give students the opportunity to nurture and develop practical skills in these areas, such as scripting skills (for TV and for stage), performance skills and directing skills as well as production skills for stage, television and radio.

Part Time Work Details

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.

Language Requirement

  • If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.

    If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.

    If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
