This programme is designed for people with an interest in exploring how dynamics of international development relate to processes of social change, citizen engagement and struggles for social justice. It approaches international development studies from a range of critical perspectives to understand changing global agendas and dynamics. You'll be taught by academics across a range of specialist areas that intersect with world development and the Global South including sports for development, communication and development, social movements, international relations, international management and entrepreneurship, disaster and sustainability.While this master’s programme has a particular focus on the Global South, it recognises the interconnectedness of world development. By studying an International Development MA at a time of such dynamic change, widespread activism and social movements, you will critically reflect upon a breadth of major traditions, theories and frameworks of inquiry relevant to the contemporary challenges of international development. Our programme offers practical-based learning through industry-led projects. Students will engage with leading organisations and agencies to develop professional skills throgh the Collaborative Project, with options to undertake a dissertation or internship with industry. To help further enhance your employability, our Future Space Enterprise Hub offers additional support for engaging with partners, sourcing internships, and establishing start-ups and consultancies. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in an international field trip as part of an optional module, Meaningful Development, whereby you will partner with universities and organisations in the Global South to engage with communities and gain exposure to international development projects in the field.
