The sport and leisure industry is growing fast and offers many exciting career opportunities. Train to become a sport advisor, personal trainer, events manager, PE teacher and more. Roles in this industry help people improve their physical, social and mental wellbeing.
There are three majors to choose from on the course - Community Health, Human Performance Science and Sport Development and Coaching.
You'll have access to cutting-edge facilities and the latest sport science equipment. The course covers athlete performance testing, exercise and recovery, altitude training and more.
This popular sports qualification is delivered by the University of Waikato and Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology.
Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive the award of:
Bachelor of Health, Sport and Human Performance (Level 7), major in either Community Health, Human Performance Science, or Sport Development and Coaching.
Domestic students under 20 and all international students must:
Meet the University Entrance criteria as specified by NZQA or have education achievement at least equivalent to NZQA University Entrance. Where an applicant did not attend schooling in New Zealand, the relevant equivalent to University Entrance will be considered on a case-by-case basis; AND
Meet all programme entry requirements; OR
Provide evidence of ability to complete academic and other requirements (special admission requirements).
20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 4 with the Academic Endorsement or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
