The maritime business sector is vast and multidisciplinary – with around 90% of global trade transported by sea, and a complex network of national and international regulations and laws. This specialist top-up degree delivers an in-depth understanding of the legal framework which underpins maritime business, addressing complexities of safe delivery, ownership, insurance and more.
On graduating you will have a thorough and current education in maritime business and law, with the knowledge to make an immediate contribution to industry organisations.
And you will have the ability to apply that knowledge to real-world challenges, thanks to exercises incorporating real problems derived from the industry, which explore the practical and practicable applications of theory and technical concepts.
As part of our shipping and maritime business programme, you will study as part of a large and diverse cohort of international students, giving you the chance to build an effective network of global professional connections – and benefit from a wide range of culturally and professionally diverse perspectives. Our maritime business conference and associated events further enhance your professional network, bringing experts and alumni from the industry onto campus.
Taught by staff with a wide range of experience and knowledge in the industry and related specialisms, this intellectually challenging course is tailored to the requirements of the maritime industry – producing graduates with exceptional understanding and judgement, an analytical approach to problem solving and the ability to communicate effectively. Armed with a highly relevant and transferable skillset, you will be well-placed to develop a great career.
