You'll learn how to observe patients and assess their physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual needs. You'll develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to plan and deliver the most appropriate care for them (underpinned by current research findings) and evaluate the results, in both hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
You'll learn how to help people stay independent and maximise their well-being, improving their health outcomes and also caring for people as they reach the end of their lives. A significant part of your learning will focus on communicating with compassion and building relationships with patients, their carers and families, to provide a positive care experience. Your aim will be to improve the patient's quality of life and deliver high-quality care.
You'll need to take into account many factors that impact the patient and work to get the best possible outcomes for your patients. This will include working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, for example with doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers. This exciting course will also allow you to develop a broad range of skills including, teaching, clinical decision-making, leadership management and professionalism. Finally, you'll reflect on the values of the NHS Constitution and the 6 Cs: care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment in the work you do as a nurse.
