Course Overview

Human performance in sport and exercise is based on three areas €“ body chemistry (physiology); the physical demands on the body (biomechanics); and the minds response (psychology). On this course, you will gain in-depth knowledge of how psychology underpins sport and exercise, by exploring the mind, brain, behavior and experience, and the complex interactions between these elements. This program is accredited as conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of The British Psychological Society. We offer a range of innovative modules, such as Mind, Body, and Brain, where you will learn how the brain, nervous system and other physiological systems affect, and are affected by, mental functioning and behavior; Psychology of Peak Performance, where you will learn the fundamental issues related to optimal athlete performance; and Advanced Topics in Psychology, where you will gain an understanding of contemporary issues within the field of sport psychology.

General Eligibility

1. passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Level; 2. a pass in one subject at GCE Advanced Level plus (a) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level, or (b) a Vocational A-Level Single Award, or (c) two Vocational A-Level part Awards; 3. a Vocational A-Level Double Award; or 4. a Vocational A-Level Single Award plus (a) two Vocational A-Level part Awards, or (b) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level; or 5. a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma; or 6. a Scottish Certificate of Education with (a) passes in five subjects, including at least three at Higher grade, or (b) passes in four subjects all at Higher grade or New Higher grade; or 7. the full Diploma of the International Baccalaureate; or 8. an Irish Leaving Certificate with passes in four subjects at Grade C at the Higher level.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.

  • 1. GCSE requirement: Maths, Grade C 2. IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each component
