The course is designed to appeal strongly to changemakers, those students who want to make a difference to people's life chances and who seek a holistic approach to education. Many also find themselves changed by this holistic approach as they examine education through a range of lenses - philosophical, sociological and psychological for example. Some expertise in these disciplines, plus an understanding of economics and pedagogy, are essential to gaining a full picture of what education is, its purpose and its possibilities. It's this breadth of study that differentiates BA Education Studies from teacher training degrees, although significant numbers of our graduates do go on to complete a PGCE Primary course and become classroom teachers. Other career outcomes for our graduates may include working with children with special educational needs, working in a museum as an educator, youth work, or professional coaching in a private organization. The degree is also excellent preparation for further study at masters level.
