Course Overview

The course at Roehampton covers classic themes of both social anthropology (such as kinship, witchcraft, cannibalism, and indigenous cosmologies) and biological anthropology (including human ecology and adaption, primate biology and behavior, and human evolution). We also cover topics such as the relationship between culture and biology, gender and performance, globalization and tourism, political/historical ecology, medical anthropology, the anthropology of science, and the study of human-animal relations. Youll enjoy a dynamic learning experience, and be taught by staff engaged in world-class research. Learning more about everything from violence, sexuality, and wildlife conservation, to global health and mental illness, youll work with anthropologists specializing in these topics.

General Eligibility

1. Passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Level; 2. a pass in one subject at GCE Advanced Level plus (a) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level, or (b) a Vocational A-Level Single Award, or (c) two Vocational A-Level part Awards; 3. a Vocational A-Level Double Award; or 4. a Vocational A-Level Single Award plus (a) two Vocational A-Level part Awards, or (b) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level; or 5. a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma; or 6. a Scottish Certificate of Education with (a) passes in five subjects, including at least three at a Higher grade, or (b) passes in four subjects all at a Higher grade or New Higher grade; or 7. the full Diploma of the International Baccalaureate; or 8. an Irish Leaving Certificate with passes in four subjects at Grade C at the Higher level.
