The LLB (Hons) Law with Foundation Year at Bangor University is a flexible and comprehensive program that provides students with a solid foundation in the principles of law. The foundation year is designed to help students develop their legal knowledge and skills, before progressing to the full-time undergraduate degree. This course will provide you with a deep understanding of the legal system and the ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations. The LLB (Hons) Law with Foundation Year is a three-year program that includes a one-year foundation year. The foundation year is designed to provide students with a solid understanding of legal principles, as well as practical skills such as legal research and writing. In the first year of the undergraduate degree, students will study a range of topics including contract law, tort law, criminal law, and constitutional law. In the second and third years, students can specialize in areas such as commercial law, intellectual property law, and human rights law. The program is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the legal system and the ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations.

Our Law (with Foundation Year) option is a four-year course with an integrated foundation year which leads to the same qualification as our three-year honours degree. It has been specifically designed for those wanting to undertake degree-level study but who may not meet the entry requirements or have traditional qualifications.
The Foundation Year (Year 0) offers you the chance to expand and strengthen your confidence, skills and knowledge – ensuring that you are well-prepared and qualified to progress into Year 1 of the undergraduate degree.

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
On this Law (with Foundation Year) degree, you will have around 12 hours of lectures, seminars and tutorials each week. You will spend about twice this amount of time reading and completing coursework.
You will experience a range of teaching methods throughout your course, including lectures, small group formats (tutorials), online learning environments, self-directed or collaborative study, experiential learning and problem-based learning. Your usual week will be made up of twelve hours of lectures along with fortnightly one-hour tutorials.During your time with us, you will be supported to develop self-management skills, including an ability to reflect on your own learning, make effective use of feedback and an ability to work in a team.You will develop the ability to conduct independent research, including accurate identification of issues which require researching, retrieval and critical evaluation of relevant information from a range of appropriate sources, including primary legal sources.The level of challenge and achievement you will be faced with is gradually increased throughout your course.Our learning, teaching and assessment procedures will give you the opportunity to demonstrate that you have met the necessary skills and qualities within your law course. We recognise the importance of inclusive practice and are sensitive to equal opportunities requirements as indicated by good practice and relevant legislative obligations.A wide range of assessment methods are used to determine your overall achievement; these assessments may be timed or untimed, seen or unseen, continuous or examination based.
If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
