Course Overview

Graduates from the Product Design program are equipped to work in a variety of career paths as product design is required in a wide range of manufacturing industries. There are specific product design agencies throughout the UK but most importantly any company bringing new ideas into development will require a product designer’s skills in their team.

We provide access to part-time jobs, and extra-curricular employability-enhancing workshops and offer practical one-to-one help with career planning, including help with CVs, applications, and mock interviews. We also deliver group sessions on career planning within each course and we have a wide range of extensive information covering graduate jobs and postgraduate study.

Students and graduates of the University of Chester can use our services free of charge for up to two years after graduating.

112 UCAS points from GCE A Levels or equivalent, inc. A2 Level Art & Design, Fine Art, Product Design, Media or Photography. Typical offer: BCC-BBC.

BTEC:

BTEC Extended Diploma (Art & Design, Product Design or Photography): DMM

BTEC Diploma (Art & Design, Product Design or Photography): D*D*

Irish/Scottish Highers:

Irish Highers - H3, H3, H3, H3, H4 including H3 in Art

Scottish Highers - BBBB including Art

International Baccalaureate :

26 points, inc. HL Visual Arts at 5 or above

Access requirements:

Access to HE Diploma (Art & Design) to include 45 credits at level 3, 30 of which must be at Merit / Foundation Diploma in Art & Design

OCR:

OCR National Extended Diploma (Art & Design): Merit 2

OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma (Art & Design) - DMM

OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma (Art & Design) - D*D*

Extra Information / General Entry Requirements:

A maximum of 8 UCAS points for GCE AS Levels and the Welsh Baccalaureate (core) and A Level General Studies will be recognized along with a combination of A Levels and BTECs/OCRs.

Normally, a successful portfolio review and interview are required for all applicants applying to Levels 4, 5, or 6 of the program.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
